The liver is the largest glandular organ of the body weighing in at about 3 lbs. It is reddish brown in color, divided into 4 lobes and located in the right side of the abdominal cavity beneath the diaphragm.

The liver performs a multitude of jobs some of which include: -filtering the blood (removing wastes, contaminants and toxins) -produce substances to break down fats (bile – which is stored in the gall bladder)
-convert glucose to glycogen, -produce urea (main substance of urine)
-make certain amino acids
-storage of some vitamins and minerals
-maintain proper levels of glucose in the blood
-producing cholesterol (about 80% of the cholesterol in your body)
